Basmati Rice

December 24, 2012 by Daniele Buzzurro

Basmati rice is a special variety grown for hundreds of years in Pakistan and in various parts of India.
In particular, the Pakistani province where the vast majority of this type of rice grows is the Punjab, while for what regards India, the state where there is the greater production is the Haryana.
The word Basmati in Hindi means Queen of Fragrance, and what that distinguishes this type of rice is the complete absence of gluten. This is therefore very suitable to diets or for those who have problems with this protein.
